As posted here, we want to start using this section of our forums more efficiently and productively. We will be posting some ideas of our own for your feedback and input. Please provide your comments and discuss the topic as per the guidelines of this forum section listed in the linked posts above.

So, now the Our Room feature is available for partners who have gotten married using IMVU's marriage package. In the discussion about that feature, many of you have commented having just the shared room part of the package be available for other situations.

What would you call it?
What would you expect the price to be?
How would you use it?
Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously?
How would you like it to work?

Let us know what you think.

Check here for the Our Room feature description for context.

Thank you

Alrighty. Here's what I think:
I'd call it the Family Package (the idea belongs to lustrous Laughing)

Price? Hmm. Same as the marriage package.

I'd use it to make a family or just be in a circle with my friends. I suppose it would be sweet to have a 'sister/brother' tag.

As for the work, here's my idea: there would be starting 2 people like in the marriage package, and those would be the 'family heads'. They'd be the ones that would be allowed to invite more family members and assigning positions. There would be positions like daughter, mother, father etc. Families would be able to 'conjoin' by having a member of another family 'marry' another member. It could also be connected to the marriage package. There could also be a room that would be the family house which could be decorated by the family heads or the family heads could just select members that would be able to decorate the room. There'd also be a web page with the family tree on it or something like that. The invitation to a family would be like a group invite, but maybe it'd have a font colour in messages or something like that.

I see two other use cases for 'sharing rooms'

1. A 'decorating permit', for a one time fee of credits. It would get used up when utilized.

Implementation is a question, but ultimately the goal is to allow someone (limit one person) to decorate a private room owned by the person with their furniture items.

The person wishing the room to be decorated will buy the permit, and designate one person. It would have a session time of 1 day or until the decorator 'terminates the contract'.

The person wishing for the decorating service will designate a username and a room shell. That user will then be able to access the individual's furniture inventory (but not their own) to place, clone, move, scale, rotate and lock down items.

Current GA/AP filters would apply. If the person decorating does not have AP, they would not be able to view AP products.

This would encourage a decorating service to evolve or friends to help put a room together for an event or just for fun.

Addresses the issue some people have brought forward of difficulty using the room tools.

(Time frame can be adjusted to allow for product suggestions and input. Implementation is just hypothetical. Could be the decorator needs to request owner to add items and then manipulates them.)

2. A public room moderator enhancement maybe 'Co-Owner' or 'Caretaker'.

This would only give the ability to manipulate with the room tools, the existing products in a public room.

This would be a second level of room moderation.

A public room owner would assign room moderators in the traditional sense, but also be able to assign the ability to be a co-owner or caretaker.

The co-owner would then be able to access the room tools in the public room only.

This would allow them to clone seats, dances, and create environments where people could interact without the need for the owner to be present.

This could also have an added 'closet' feature, which the public room owner could place extra seating and dances into for the co-owner to use.

This would be a free feature or VIP feature (room owner).

Addresses the issue of popular public rooms ending up 'standing room only' and encourages interaction with the ability to modify or add chat areas.

(Owner would need to be careful who they assign to ensure that 'pose combinations' are not abused. Could be a limit of number of co-owners allowed. No shared inventory issues.)

Those are the basics of it. I tried to keep it to the point, but realize this might be a little different than what you were thinking of and looking for.

i am not a fan of being in a 'family' on IMVU. i cannot (and will not) call other users my family. it is weird and i am not exactly bringing my daily IMVU's life up to THAT level. i am here to meet people and make friends. that's all. no family, and definatly not a partner.

i'd like to see the shared room being open for everyone (for the price). not only couples, and not only family. just friends. that's what we all are after all ,right?

look, it will be awkward to call you friend your partner or family, just to get a shared room. so why not call it 'shared room' and make people call it whatever they want themselfs. be it their family or their partner, it doesn't matter 'cause in the end it's just a shared room.

( i would already have it if it wasn't conected to the marriage. it's something i cannot live with on IMVU. i hate such conections. friendship is all i need, not family bonds or marriage)

I'm not active in any groups at the moment, but I think it would be interesting to have rooms specific to groups. It could serve as a room for members of the group to meet up or chat.

I honestly haven't thought through all the details yet, but I've included my current thoughts below.

What would you call it?
Group rooms

What would you expect the price to be?
Free - comes with the group.

How would you use it?
As mentioned previously, it could be used as a meeting or hangout location for members of the group to chat or discuss things. The exact purpose and uses for the room may vary from group to group. At the very least, it would ensure everyone in the room belongs to the group. If the group is about an interest for example, it would ensure people in the room at least share the same interest.

Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously?
The room would be visible and accessible by all members of the group, except those that are blocked or banned from the room (even if they are in the group).

How would you like it to work?
I imagine that the owner of the room would be the owner of the group. Moderators can be set using the same method they are currently set for rooms. The owner of a group may create a group room if they wish, or not at all.

If a user creates a public room, they can set it to be for a group they own. Likewise, they can also set an existing public room they own to be for a group (visible and accessible for the group). This group room will count towards the maximum number of public rooms they can have, as it is a pseudo-public room. A user can set a room to be for any group they are the owner of. Each group may have zero or more rooms, with the limit being the number of rooms the group owner can make. Any one room can be associated with at most one group at a time.

Edit: I think I may have misunderstood the topic. I'm not familiar with how the shared room feature for marriages work, so this post may actually not belong here. I apologize if that's the case.

What would you call it?

Shared Room

What would you expect the price to be?

It would be cheaper than the Marriage Package as it does not need to include the NCT's, linked profiles and badges.

I'd say 5 dollars for a moth of allowance. Kinda like VIP, you pay 5, set a person to decorate your stuff with you and after a month, the person gets unlinked. Everytime you want to allow a person to fiddle with your objects for a month, lets say, or everytime you want to change that person, you would need to pay that.

How would you use it?

To decorate a room with a friend in order to make it public.

Also some people would get a "decorator" job over here to earn some credits.

Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously?

Several persons decorating the same room sounds pretty much of a chaos but I guess that paying another 5 dollars you could add an extra person for a month.

How would you like it to work?

An extra button aside of Our Room that says Shared Room.

Good feature to add to both of them would be if they could still be owners and move furniture once one set it as public.

Would be nice to decorate rooms for people. Or have people help decorate yours.

So a more temporary thing would be cool.

I am not good with names, but somewhere along the line of Our Room/Shared Room?

Quote:

VIP-only feature. Alternatively, users can pay a one time sum.

Quote:
How would you use it?

As a private room between friends.

Quote:

A few friends simultaneously.

Quote:

The "Shared Room" mode will have 2 sections:

i. My Shared Rooms
Only a VIP or a Pass holder can create a Shared Room and give it a name. S/he will select a room shell (others are not allowed to change the shell) and be the owner of the Shared Room. The room will be listed under his/her My Shared Rooms.

ii. Rooms Shared With Me
Room owner can then give rights to a max of 4 (just an arbitrary number) people from his/her Friends List. For the 4 friends with room rights, the said room will list under their Rooms Shared With Me section.

Room owner has the option to set the shared room as GA or AP-only. Restrictions apply according. I.e. AP only room shells will automatically be "AP-only". AP furniture will not be allowed in GA rooms. AP-only rooms can only be shared with AP users.

Everyone with rights can move/place furniture from their inventories.

Anyone can voluntarily give up his own rights to that room, but is not allowed to revoke rights of someone else.
The room owner has the option to revoke rights from anyone.

Once somebody has his rights revoked, he no longer has access to that room. The room name will be removed from his Rooms Shared With Me. His furniture will also be removed.

In addition, a user can only have a certain number of rooms created (for VIP/pass holders) and shared with him/her.

I would like to see a shared room option.
I am not sure what it should be called shared or group room.
If there was JUST a shared room. I think price should be based on how many you wish to add to your group. Say $10 for adding the first person $5 per person you wish to add after that, with a cap at 10 people. I know that seems high but I have seen "malls" on here where several developers have gotten together to showcase their products. One person would "own" the room and could remove or add people at his or her whim but slots could not be traded. IE you pay for Joe but the two of you fight then decide you want Tim. You would have to remove Joe and pay $5 for Tim to be added.
When the person is deleted or leaves the group their inventory that they added would be gone from the room.
If there were badges and links for profile cards then the price should start at the same as a marriage package and each addition person should be $7 to $10

I kind of wish this would've been considered before the marriage bundle.

What would you call it?
Shared Room

What would you expect the price to be?
As someone stated, not as much as the marriage bundle as it shouldn't include anything more than just a room.
$20

How would you use it?
A lot of people didn't want to get married on here. They just wanted to share a room with their special someone/Friend. That comment was made from day one of the Marriage Bundle release. I don't see it being used differently. But then, I'm not involved in any Family/RP on here.

Celyng, mentioned a decorator permit, and I like that idea because I can't decorate my rooms for the life of me!

Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously?
I can see them (families/RP'ers) enjoying the room if they can include several people as ownership to it (if it were to go to this route, perhaps an extra charge per person added to it). Though I think there'd be asking for trouble for such a scenario.

Friends would like to share a room together. But unfortunately, a lot of friendships last just as well as the many short marriages we've seen on here. Still more profit for imvu when they want to share with someone else.

I would only share with one person.

How would you like it to work?
If it's between only two people, the same as it does for Our Room.

If it's between several, this is where I can see problems arising, the buyer has right to choosing the room. Main problem I see from this is when it comes to decorating. Bigger problem if someone is removed from the family/RP and decides to do some damage before getting booted/quitting.

What would you call it?
Share a Space pass
Share a room pass

What would you expect the price to be? 99 cents a month

How would you use it?
It could be used for many different uses, from families, friends, couples, groups, clubs, cafes, etc.

Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously?

I would only allow 2 people per room with the pass.
It can be public if they choose just like rooms options we have in place now.

How would you like it to work?

The two people would have control of the room can move inventory they own in that room.

What would you call it? IMVU Groups Plus
What would you expect the price to be? $25+ USD to start a group maybe additional charge for custom group badge.
How would you use it? To organize a group of members and a group room.
Would you share it with one person at a time or a few simultaneously? Multiple people simultaneously.

How would you like it to work? Establish a group on IMVU that has a common group room. This group can be a family or an organization. They will be able to create their own badge for display on the profile card. Unfortunately this will have to be strictly policed by a staff member not a typical CS member. I know it would be a bit of a pain but I would hope that more than one staff member would approve it since it would show up with VIP/AP badges.

The owner of the group would then be able to assign up to X people to add item from their inventory to the room. This would be separate from room moderators. The badge would link to the IMVU group where people in the group can be assigned titles. I know people dislike drawing a likeness to online gaming but it would closely resemble guilds. If someone wants to be a member of more than one group they can but they can only display one group's badge.

Then the group/family will have a group room that their members can contribute to. They will have an IMVU group for posting/forums etc. they can have titles brother sister aunt uncle or anything they choose titles will be customizable within the group. This will over all strengthen IMVU groups. Obviously there would have to be a limit to the number of people who can add items to the room. Unless you want to charge a minor fee for additional people who can add to the room. $5.

Even more amazing to add to this and would really bring it all together. Allow group owners to setup automated invites to events. On Saturday June 22nd invite everyone in the group to our group room. The IMVU client will auto invite group members at a time and date or allow the group owner to send mass invites to the group. With features like that I can't see anyone turning away the $25+ price tag.

Please avoid a monthly fee to maintain. One time fee's carry much higher value IMO. I canceled my VIP because i didn't not want to pay the monthly fee for features I wasn't using. I like the additional rooms and would have been willing to pay additional per room but not per month for the rooms since I did not dev, whisper, need the credits or the discount, want the monthly gifts, expedited service time not as advertised. I utilized none of the additional perks and felt I was over paying.

Several games thrive on a free to play, pay to win strategy. I think IMVU would make a bank on a la carte "bolt-on" services that add to the IMVU experience without a monthly commitment.

Would be nice for an alternative payment method to be creddies.

ooo

what about if you had a list of people who could move furniture in your room. to add new people to the list you can pay a fee. 10k per person per room.

Can do it for all your public rooms, so potential for a massive credit sink.
