IMPORTANT: Http to secure https on Creator Product pages
This message is for all Creators who use http links in their catalog pages. For those of you that don’t, this will not affect you. What you may have noticed recently in your catalog pages is that they no longer load properly, and we want to provide a helpful solution. If you haven’t seen a change yet, you will soon.
Due to changes Google is making to their Chrome browser next month, IMVU has been working to comply with making pages more secure by using only https (secure) links and not allowing http links to load in. Some of you have noticed this breaking your catalog pages recently because of your inclusion of links that use http. We have rolled back some of the changes temporarily and created a tool you may find helpful for updating your pages to be compliant.
The tool we have created will take any instance of “http” in your catalog page code and easily change it to “https”. You can change anywhere from 1 to 500 pages at a time. This tool is designed by an engineer to get the job done and not to look pretty. We highly recommend you try one page in the tool first and see how it goes before working up to larger batches of pages.
This tool may not be appropriate for every Creator’s pages, but if it works for you we think it can save you a lot of time vs updating pages individually and sending each one through peer review. We know it’s a lot of work to update your product pages and never fun when things happen that are out of your (and our) control. Please be assured it is not our intention to have you updating pages instead of creating great content, which is why we have created this tool for you: http://sv.imvu.com/creator_https_tool/

Let’s have a little fun with dev tokens!
We know one of the signs of your success is a surplus of dev tokens and that you’d like more ways to use them. We are so excited to announce an exclusive opportunity to be part of a limited edition deck of playing cards to immortalize your avatar on RL IMVU swag.
Starting this Friday, eligible Creators will receive a message from @IMVUCreatorTeam letting them know how they can sign up for a special dev token auction hosted by a 3rd party. Eligible Creators, those with 500 or more dev tokens, will get a chance to bid for one of 54 spots to feature their avatar on this special edition IMVU deck. The winning Creators will receive a complimentary deck as part of their prize. The rest of you and your fellow Creators will have the first opportunity to purchase these decks with dev tokens, if you choose.
Creators will have one week to sign up as a participant before the auction starts. Starting June 29 at 12pm PDT the auctions will open and all will be welcome to come watch the fun!
How will you strategize to get the card you want?
What card would you pick if you had enough dev tokens?
We are committed to bringing you more ways to use dev tokens that are in line with your needs, but hope you will join us in this unique opportunity to get some RL IMVU swag!
Your input is needed for the future of the Creator tool!
We are currently in the planning stages of a new Creator tool and would like some input from the community. We have been gathering suggestions from a small group of highly engaged Creators as well as engineers that work with the product and have received many interesting and creative suggestions for the next version of IMVU’s Create Mode. Some of these must (and will) be implemented. Others are just too challenging to get done in the time frame we are anticipating for the current project.
We are still trying to decide about some of them. To that end, we have a new survey for you with a list of 20. We can only do a few of these so your input is very important to us. Please take a few minutes to weigh in on the Create tool and the features you would value most.
We are excited to present you with this unique advertising opportunity and hope to give more opportunities to room and furniture Creators going forward.
I can’t wait to see your fantastic entries!

Just a reminder we are always accepting applications to the Creator Showcase. Being featured in the Showcase is a great way to increase your exposure.
How do you apply?
Just follow these simple steps:
1. Look over your catalog and make sure it’s in Showcase-ready shape (this means checking for copyright and trademarked items that would disqualify you from being Featured as well as considering hiding anything that doesn’t show your work at its artistic best.
2. Check your Shop in IMVU Next or on Mobile, and make sure your catalog looks good as you scroll down.

Now Our FBX Importer is Even Better!
We hope you have been enjoying the FBX importer tool while we have been working hard to build more features for it. Today, we are excited to announce our latest update - a faster and more efficient way to import 3Ds Max files! We know the pain our 3Ds Max users have endured in exporting and importing all your files separately and we know that you will benefit greatly from trying the newly supported FBX method. We also recommend trying FBX if you’re using one of the latest versions of 3Ds Max and find Cal3d isn’t working for you.
If you have the most recent build of the client, you will now have more features than ever for FBX for Blender and 3Ds Max. If you don’t use either of these 3D programs, we’re happy to inform you that we’ve made some improvements to importing SketchUp and Maya FBX files. We encourage you to try FBX from any platform you normally use and let us know if you encounter any errors. (Please send any files/info/screenshots to firstname.lastname@example.org, the more info the better!)
For the latest version of our FBX importer, please go to http://sv.imvu.com/download.php and download the very latest version of the Client. This version is usually newer than what you are prompted to download when you run IMVU, and will give you the most up-to-date features, functionality and support for FBX. If you have any trouble, please send us an email.
Thank you for being part of IMVU’s Creator Community.
Coming soon: Fbx for 3ds Max!
We are about to release support for FBX for 3ds Max and we’re super excited!
If you’ve upgraded to the latest version of 3ds Max, you’ve probably experienced the Cal3d exporters not working properly. If you haven’t upgraded, you are probably tired of importing each file out of 3ds Max and into Create separately. Either way, we know you’ll be really pleased with this new option.
To see how much time FBX will save you, please take a peek at this video by Creator Polystyrene:
The official release will take place next week, however you can get a headstart by downloading the latest build of the client here: http://sv.imvu.com/download.php . Keep in mind, we are still working hard to make it perfect for you.
FBX importer now live in Create!
Today I am pleased to announce that we’ve just released our FBX Import tool.
At IMVU we are eager to expand our Creator tools to provide more features that are not only easier to use, but also available to everyone.. By providing support for FBX files, you now have a way to import multiple materials, meshes and animations in one shot, rather than fighting with each and every component of your product one at a time. (.xmf, .xsf, .xpf, etc).
At this time, we are releasing FBX for files that were created in Blender, a community-driven open source 3D creation suite that’s actively maintained and updated. Even better, Blender is FREE. Our goal at IMVU is to ensure that the Creator experience is low cost, user friendly, and accessible to everyone. With Blender in place, Creators can import clothes, accessories, furniture and rooms with a single import. For example, if you have a room built with 40 mesh pieces, 70 textures and 12 special poses or animations, you can import everything into IMVU in a single FBX instead of exporting and importing them one by one. This will save you lots of time as you test and revise your large IMVU product.
Even with Blender there is more functionality that we plan to add to your experience to make it better. However, we decided to bring you on board now so that we can get your feedback on the first phase. Your input is what helps us tailor the experience to your needs and helps us make decisions on what else to add to Blender. We have already worked with some of our Creators in our Alpha phase, with great success. (Special thanks to JazzKat for all his expertise and help! Thanks also to DimitriX89, Roy, Polystyrene, and everyone else in our FBX beta test group.)
If you aren’t a user of the free 3D modeling programBlenderalready, now is the time to get started!
Here are some great Blender tutorials from IMVU Creator JazzKat that will take you from first steps in Blender to importing your creations into IMVU. You can also find them on the new IMVU Creator playlist on YouTube.
The FBX tool should show up as a tab on your Create Panel once you download the latest Client build. At this time, you will not be prompted to download it automatically, but will have to go to http://sv.imvu.com/download.php and download and install the latest Client. If you have any questions or problems with this, please contact us at email@example.com We hope you are as excited as we are and that you enjoy this new feature!
