By being what they say, these are MORE than what they say! :-) I was desperate for a table and chairs for a space too small for the usual 6 seat rectangular table. Just a plain set--wooden chairs, wooden table top. It seems that most everyone who's derived from this set and shown a large picture of their work has fancied it up to the point where it's too..unique...for the typical residential space. Sets with only a small thumbnail picture are a gamble, as I discovered when what looked like a plain set had a stenciled picture on the chair backs that gave them that 1950s what-was-granny-thinking look. It is often the case that the original from which everything else is derived is among the best of type. That's true here. If all you want is a table and chairs in light brown wood, you have it! It would be great having it in other woods, too, such as mahogany or maple.
